Victor Meirelles de Lima was the first great painter from Brazil. The house where he was born in Florianópolis has been the museum’s headquarters since 1956. It holds paintings, drawings, and watercolors by Meirelles, as well as works by artists from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The website offers a range of images, texts, and information related not only to Meirelles but also to art and museums in general. The e-magazine Ventilando Acervos (www.museuvictormeirelles.gov.br/revista-eletronica-ventilando-acervos) is promoting knowledge on the management of museum collections [Written by Alexander Gaiotto Miyoshi].
